Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand is set to announce his arrival as a professional boxer. The English man will be following the footsteps of Curtis Woodhouse who played football professionally for Birmingham City and Leon McKenzie who spent 18 years as a footballer before becoming a professional boxer and Woodhouse became British super-lightweight champion.

The former England international was seen doing pad work with British boxing heroes Anthony Joshua, David Haye and Tony Bellew back in January. And according to The Telegraph, BT Sport pundit Ferdinand will make an official announcement on Tuesday afternoon as he prepares to make waves in the boxing ring.
‘That time just to think about nothing, or to think about something other than what was going on in my life.’
He added "I'm doing this because it's a challenge, I've won titles and now I'm aiming for a belt."

I don't agree with Rio on this. He's 38, starting a boxing career at 38 is tantamount to sucide. Let him think it twice.
