Wales forward Gareth Bale was spotted driving away from the Bernabeu before the final whistle of their shock defeat to Real Sociedad.

The 29-year-old is currently out with an injury and he's recuperating from a calf injury he picked up against Villarreal last week therefore he wasn't named in the squad that lost 2-0 in La Liga last night.

Surprisingly Real Madrid were trailing the visitors 1-0 thanks to Willian Jose who put the visitors ahead in the third minute from the penalty spot. With his side trailing 1-0, the Welsh winger sneaked out of the ground in the 78th minute, with El Chiringuito TV snapping him in his car.

The former Tottenham star was therefore not obliged to even turn up to the ground for the match, but it is very common for injured players to do so to watch their team-mates.

However, it is also common for them to stay at the ground until the end of the fixture and meet up with their team-mates and coaching staff in the changing room after the match.

One has to assume that Bale had a good reason for leaving the Madrid match early. Yet images of Bale in his car have lead to lead a negative reactions.

When Ruben Pardo sealed the Sociedad win with the second in the 83rd and Lucas Vazquez was sent off, leaving Real Madrid to finish the match with 10 men, Bale wasn't there to witness it.

Los Blancos struggled in Bale's absence as they suffered their sixth defeat of the season, meaning they have lost a third of their top-flight games so far.

Bale has been mocked in the Spanish press following his latest injury setback, with the four-time Champions League winner dubbed "Mr Glass".

Since joining Real in 2013 from Spurs for a then world-record fee, the former Southampton star has picked up an incredible 22 injuries, resulting in him missing an astonishing 84 games.

But despite his repeated niggles, Bale has still managed to chip in with an impressive ten goals and five assists in 23 games in all competitions this season.
