Interview with Otunba Dele Ajayi the chairman Ondo State Football Association (OSFA) sit with us in the studio answering questions about OSFA and NFF

Realsportclub: Has anything really changed since your reinstation as the Ondo State fa boss four years ago?

Otunba Dele Ajayi: First of all let me greet the stake holders and football lovers, fa chairmen and the board of Ondo football association.
On the issue, nothing has really changed , for the past four years, we have been struggling and thank God sunshine stars have not been relegated ,we managed them and up till now, they are still In the premiership and I believe that during my tenure, they will never allow that to happen. I will always put them on their toes and make the state football lovers happy.

On the issue of development, the policy changed, football development was assigned to Ondo State football association OSFA. It now lies on the shoulders of OSFA to raise fund for the development of football in the grassroots. That's why we have a lower budget, but we have been trying to raise fund for the Under 13, 15 and a whole lot of other. We have had discussion with the ministry of youth and sport asking for the opportunity to start the development directly from the grassroots. The referees are not doing badly, so we are moving forward, we are not lagging behind. Infact other Southwest states copy from us. We may not have industries that can sponsor us like Lagos and Ogun state, all the companies or banks here will direct you to the headquarters in Lagos and they are skeptical about sponsoring us in the state.

Realsportclub: One of the major decisions taken was the fact that the local council election would come before the board elections and why not the other way around?

Otunba Dele Ajayi: It's has been from the state to local government, but the power that be at Abuja says from the local to the state. Luckily for us that is how we run it in Ondo State. We start from the grassroots but when you look at the NFF election Is from the top to down, now they want it the other way around because of their selfish interest but we have no problem with that.

Realsportclub: Was there really any crisis in Ondo State football.

Otunba Dele Ajayi: There is not and there have never been crisis. When the people from Abuja came for reconciliation saying what we have done is wrong, I stand to object Because what we have done is adequate right. May I inform the people of the state that they ordered what was done before and they sent representatives to where decisions where taken. Their accusations have been way out of line. It's like accusing someone under your authority in the office of what's is not official. You will tell them it's not your headache. Well, all this things have been resolved even 6 months before they gave their order. I received a letter from. It Abuja saying some suspended member are reinstated, I replied by saying they have no power. The only thing we are waiting for is the AGA is the supreme, we took the case there and they were suspended and the suspension would be lifted by them and of course if members were reinstated base on the letter received, some people can go to court and challenge the legality of that. So everyone agreed to wait for the AGA. The AGA has removed the suspension which brings to end the disagreement in the house.

Realsportclub: There has always be two groups in our sporting system it has happened alot in Nigeria. When you were the board member of the NFF ,you have one for and one against. Let me find out from you, how transparent was the board of the NFF when you were a member.

Otunba Dele Ajayi: As a board, I represented Ondo State and South west, I was never declared wanted it being accused of mismanagement Initially when we were swear in, I was made the chairman finance but when I adviced them and they said I don't want them to do otherwise, they removed me and today I'm enjoying it because today I'm being vindicated.

The NFF under Amaju Pinnick has been riddled with mismanagement, I can tell you for more than 3 years no approval, all the funds flying about the board members were not aware of it. Just about three or four people are aware of their financial dealings. There are no transparency.

Realsportclub: Is there anything like executive order in the books of the NFF.
Otunba Dele Ajayi: No, there's nothing like that, the board are meant to approve, initially I chairman finance, with my experience, all funds must be approved.

Realsportclub: Cuts in... But FIFA appears to have clear NFF in term of financial dealings and mismanagement and also hired a top class auditing firm and published their audited account.

Otunba Dele Ajayi: The auditing firm, Price water Copa will be Rubbished one of these days. The whole world will know what they have done one of these days. They cooked books for them. When the president collected 1.5 billion from the government only to tell us that the government gave him nothing, where did the money go to, $3m from FIFA did not reach the account of the NFF, $1m from CAF can't be accounted for. Money from sponsors too can be accounted for, referees are still owed for matches played two years ago.

Realsportclub: Well I want to believe that all these are accusations and I feel Nigeria government have no right to try anybody that heads the NFF or it's official without recourse to FIFA.

Otunba Dele Ajayi: On that, you cannot say FIFA is bigger than Nigeria. The minister said the panel set up by the federal government has indicted somebody, there's mismanagement and misappropriation of fund and when they are taken to court, we will know what will happen with FIFA.

Realsportclub: With regards to whether FIFA is bigger than Nigeria or not, I'm not sure if that's is an issue what really matters is that every country has the right to affiliate with FIFA or not and if a country chose to affiliate with FIFA, they will have to go by FIFA rule. You will have to weigh what you stand to lose or gain, now that we are affiliates, why don't we just go by FIFA rule and it's not that FIFA treated any kind of financial irregularities with kid gloves. We've seen them deal with countries where there are financial irregularities.

Otunba Dele Ajayi: NFF if they are getting money only from FIFA they can do it the way they want, but if FIFA is asking questions, they will respond to FIFA, but when they collect money from federal government and misappropriated because they are affiliated to FIFA, we are not saying the government can't ask questions because they are affiliated to FIFA?

Realsportclub: But the NFF revealed that they have retired money collected from federal government.

Otunba Dele Ajayi: Let me tell you, they cooked the records. The last friendly match Nigeria played in Port Harcourt Rivers state government gave them $250,000 cash and naira but board members were not even given money for the plane ticket, we asked the President and he said the money has finished.

Realsportclub: For all these allegations, do we have documents?
Otunba Dele Ajayi: Yes, if you want documents, you will have them. People like us are crown witness am happy, my family and people from the state are also happy I've never been indicted.
