Manchester United are interested in signing Gareth Bale this summer after the Real Madrid forward hinted at a summer transfer and former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville believes he could make his old club a winning side.

The Welshman has been heavily linked with a move to United in recent seasons, with manager Jose Mourinho understood to be a huge admirer. Sources close to United have insisted the club are always in the market to buy the best players in the world -- of which they consider Bale to be one.

Bale scored two goals in Champions League final as Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1 last week in Kiev to secure a successful defence of their European throne, but he is thought to be eager on a move away from Los Blancos, admitting after a match-winning performance off the bench in the Champions League final that he needs to be playing “week in, week out” .

Bale has expressed disappointment after he was overlooked and was not included in the starting line up in the final in Kiev despite scoring five goals in the last four league games of the season, although it's just to say he has been faced with injury struggles and fierce competition which is responsible for the snubbing.

Bale has earlier told reporters following the Champions League triumph over Liverpool that he had become frustrated by a lack of opportunities and he will be discussing his future at the Bernabeu in the near future with his agent. His agent, Jonathan Barnett, is due to meet Real Madrid hierarchy to discuss the future of his client who had placed doubt on his future.

United are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer, with Jose Mourinho under pressure to deliver following a trophyless campaign in 2017-18. Neville thinks United shouldn't miss an opportunity to sign such a player and that the Welshman could be the 'game-changer' manager Jose Mourinho needs.

"I've got a lot of admiration for him as a player," United legend told BBC Radio Manchester.

"I'd like to see Messi play for United or Ronaldo or Neymar or all these players, but the reality is they've got to want to come to the club. That's the first question that needs to be asked.

"If he wants to come to United then absolutely, yes, because he's a fantastic player and he is a game changer. For me every top club is looking for that player who is the difference, who can turn the big games."

Considering Gareth Bale injury struggles, do you see him as the right inclusion Manchester United needs to overcome their present challenges? Not forgetting the fact that he has shown on countless occasions that he possesses match-winning qualities.
