Jadon Sancho has fired a cheeky warning to Virgil van Dijk ahead of their probable meeting at the UEFA Nations League finals this summer.

Sancho will likely be in the England side that faces the Netherlands in Guimaraes in June as they bid to reach the final of the inaugural tournament.

Defender Van Dijk emerged as the winner of the honour, voted on by members of the Professional Footballers' Association, ahead of five other candidates, including team-mate Sadio Mane, stars Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva, as well as talisman Eden Hazard.

Van Dijk, who has proven a lynchpin in a Liverpool backline that has conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League this season will certainly be at the heart of the Dutch defence should the Liverpool stopper get through the rest of the season unscathed.

Borussia Dortmund youngster Sancho was made aware that no Premier League player has successfully dribbled past the Liverpool defender in the English top flight so far this term nor has any player managed it since March of last season in the Premier League.

The Englishman will be looking forward to testing his skills. He told Sky Sports: "Nations League is coming up!

“I’ve been watching a lot of Premier League games and I’ve seen him. He’s a great defender. He shows his ability on the pitch and that’s why he’s probably one of the best defenders in the world right now.”
