Manchester United goalless draw at West Ham on Thursday evening sealed their second place in the Premier League but Manchester United fans were utterly disappointed with the team’s performance and rightfully so after the frustrating draw.

With the EPL title totally out of their reach, all they wanted to play for was to earn the points that would at least ensures they will finish ahead of Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal, who all share similar ambitions to the Red Devils. Jose Mourinho’s men have been inconsistent all season long but their mentality has truly shown ever since Manchester City were crowned champions.

Mourinho introduced Alexis Sanchez who missed United 1-0 defeat to Brighton. Both Paul Pogba and Sanchez presence in the game did not throw in the life line for Man United as they toiled for 90 minutes against stubbornly persistently David Moyes tutored West Ham.

With the likes of youngsters Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on the bench for the entire match, Mourinho played three centre-backs and two defensive wing-backs, leading to criticism from supporters who are rapidly losing patience with his negative tactics. The performance on the night wasn’t the most exciting from Jose Mourinho’s side and It’s clear to see that the tactics was bad that United could not attack.

Manchester United fans who long for dynamic and entertaining brand of football have grown weary and frustrated are calling for the sack of Mourinho this summer just like they did 2 years ago during the reign of Louis Van Gaal. The Dutchman was widely criticised for his relatively dour approach at United, with the club enduring a run that saw them win just four matches out of 16.

Van Gaal was eventually sacked in May 2016, to be replaced by Jose Mourinho. Last night’s stalemate means Mourinho has now overseen nine goalless draws, one more than his predecessor Louis van Gaal whose ‘philosophy’ and commitment to a possession-based game contributed to his downfall.

Although Mourinho's side have now secured second place mathematically but the show that was put on was a terrible one to watch. Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012-13 season, no Premier League team has drawn more matches 0-0 than Manchester United (19, level with Southampton).

Some of the tweet after yesterday's game.
    * I still don’t understand people who are happy to accept points & results when the football is so boring.
Football is all about entertainment. It’s literally why we all love it. Mourinho’s & Moyes’ football is awful.

    * 2 substitutions in the 90th minute, 5 defenders and 3 defensive midfielders start against 15th in the league. Jose Mourinho will always play for a draw and hope to nick a 1-0 win. Boring boring football

    * Can’t believe I have to see another season of this boring style of play!! People are happy for a manager to sell a young player to replace him for a 29/30yrs and the people who are backing mourinho im so sure your not happy with this boring football we are playing!
